Design
Pedro and his wife, Alicia, left their careers in private banking and luxury marketing to pursue their shared passion for hospitality. Having spent years living abroad, they returned to Portugal to embark on their hotel project, drawing inspiration from their extensive travels.
The neglected buildings that eventually formed Hotel das Amoreiras immediately caught Pedro's attention. As a child, he frequently visited the square, making it all the more meaningful when he acquired the buildings here in 2016 and 2017.
Pedro, a self-taught interior decorator, infused his unique style throughout the place. The colour scheme, featuring shades of green, sand and beige, creates a harmonious ambience. And the ground floor highlights a blend of styles and eras, incorporating Watts of Westminster fabrics and an impressive mirrored bar.
Portuguese marble adorns the bathrooms, while carefully selected artwork and decor pieces from renowned names in design and fashion (mostly from Pedro's personal collection) enrich the hotel's aesthetic. Notably, there's a painting by Pedro's father that holds a special place in the entrance hall.
Much of the furniture and light fixtures are designed by Pedro. And every aspect has been thoughtfully considered, from the strategic placement of outlets to the delicate patina of brass ornaments.

Rooms
Hotel das Amoreiras features 17 guest rooms spread across two floors, offering a choice between garden or courtyard views. For those seeking extra exclusivity, the uppermost level accommodates two additional attic suites with traditional mansard roofing.
The rooms are designed to maximise the natural light, creating an airy and spacious feel. But as night falls, lighting fixtures by Michele Bönan for Estro add an elegant touch.
Our favourite feature, however, is the bathrooms that boast generously sized walk-in showers, providing a luxurious and refreshing experience.
The rooms contribute to the hotel's inviting and homely style, striking the perfect balance without overwhelming the senses.

Food & Drink
Hotel das Amoreiras does not have a formal restaurant, but it does have a breakfast area, courtyard, and bar—all of which serve locally sourced ingredients.
The importance of breakfast is apparent through an extensive and healthy menu, offering a satisfying start to the day.
These shared spaces are open to both hotel guests and the general public.
Given the location, it was a logical decision to make the common areas accessible to passers-by, maintaining seclusion and comfort amid a bustling city.
