Location

In the shadows of the Atlas mountains, you'll find Oumnass—just a 30-minute drive from the ever-vibrant and ever-adored Marrakech. Though a small village, Oumnass is a pulsating haven of tranquillity, a digital detox for the soul-starved urbanite.

The Berber people have lived the minimalist lifestyle far before it trended on social media. Theirs is a life distilled down to the raw essentials: food, shelter, and a bit of heart.

Enter the Berber Lodge, and you're not just booking a room—you're signing up for an age-old wisdom of living. So, for those tired of the 'always-on' digital haze—here's your antidote.

Design

The Lodge, driven by Romain Michel-Ménière's passion, is a nod to Berber architectural heritage. Historically, Berber structures stood grand, moulded from mud brick or 'pisé', doubling as essential trading hubs. Today, they paint the region with a distinctive, earthy charm.

Drawing from his former experiences, including projects like Marrakech's renowned Nomad and Kasbah Bab Ourika, Romain has a nuanced grasp of the Berber style. While finding the perfect plot of land was no easy feat, the Lodge eventually sprung to life on an ancient olive grove. Enter the expertise of Studio KO—globally acclaimed for designs such as André Balazs's Chiltern Firehouse and the Musée Yves Saint Laurent.

Together, they crafted Berber Lodge, seamlessly blending tradition with a tinge of modern elegance.

Rooms

Berber Lodge boasts nine distinct suites, distanced from the primary residence. The prevailing style? Think minimalist Berber but with Romain's twist. He masterfully marries elements—like a delicately crafted lamp beside a timeworn wooden chest—to craft a visual intrigue.

Generously proportioned, these suites are designed for both ease and accessibility, making them ideal for couples or smaller families.

Food & Drink

Every day, the chef crafts fresh delights, and as guest, you're warmly invited to share stories over a chat in the kitchen. Most of the staff hail from the neighbouring village, and their genuine warmth radiates in every gesture.

Meanwhile, Romain is bent on cultivating a casual, relaxed ambience where you can feel right at home. Fancy donning the chef's hat or have a unique culinary request? The team is on hand to tailor to your tastes.
