The property is situated along the western coast of Mahé—a mere 20-minute drive from the capital. Despite its seclusion, there are various activities on offer, making it perfect for leisure or adventure. Head out on walking trails and hikes, meander toward the shoreline, or visit the nearby waterfall by foot or a short drive. And if you prefer water sports, indulge in diving, surfing, or paddleboarding.
Design
In collaboration with local architects, the property has been built from the ground up on a coconut plantation next to the beach. However, the setting posed a significant challenge as it would require a solid foundation. The solution? Countless truck journeys to the mountains to acquire all the natural materials needed to construct this base.
The layout encompasses a main house and three bungalows—each serving as individual retreats. But the real gem is the garden that's spread over eight acres. It's adorned with indigenous flora which you can explore via carefully designed paths and walkways.
When it comes to the interiors, they reveal years of dedicated curation, gracefully reflecting the family's heritage, interests, and passions. Numerous pieces were discovered in India—each handpicked to create a neo-creole-colonial home. An ensemble of antique styles is blended harmoniously, further enriched by an impressive Oceanic art collection.
Rooms
The main residence boasts three ensuite bedrooms, each with its own distinctive charm. Inside, you'll discover a refined formal living area, a generously stocked bar, an entertainment zone complete with an enormous pool table, and a library brimming with reading material.
The kitchen is overseen by a private chef. Beyond the main house, three ensuite villas await, accompanied by a fully equipped gym and a spacious private pool.
The entire property can comfortably accommodate up to 12 people.
Food & Drink
At Jastam House, the chef might be local, but his culinary prowess spans the globe. His repertoire encompasses everything from health-conscious options that reflect the island's flavors to much-needed comfort food, like fish and chips.
Despite the challenges posed by the island's limitations, all ingredients are sourced locally. There's a focus on fresh produce, notably the fish procured from local suppliers.
The property embraces an inviting, familial ambiance, steering clear of extravagant dining setups—but this can be tailored to your preferences. Perhaps you lean towards a buffet-style meal, or maybe an elegant sit-down affair is indeed what you're after.
